My History with Problem Solving
Like every other person, I've been doing problem solving – by trying to make things better – my whole life.
I began intentionally learning about Problem Solving in the early-1970's, then wrote "Strategies for Problem Solving" (a booklet with multi-color mimeographing) in early-1978, and in late-1978 taught about Problem Solving for the UW Experimental College in Seattle. { before mid-May, I'll make pdf-files with scanned copies of all booklet-pages, and here you'll find a Table of Contents with a link to each section }
Another stage of personal history began at my second UW (in Madison WI) during 3 semesters of grad school in History of Science (when I rebelled against extreme "postmodern views" of Science Process) and continued during one semester of taking classes in Educational Psychology before recognizing that my heart-and-mind were in Curriculum & Instruction (and Science Education) — because (unlike "we historians") being one of "we educators" did feel like a good match for who I am — with a PhD Project that was the beginning of my website about Education for Problem Solving.
